He composed poetry in Urdu and worked as a journalist to protest against British rule. He was an enthusiastic supporter of Gandhiji’s ideas and wrote many books, including “India Wins Freedom” and “Ghubar-e-Khatir.” Azad was appointed as the first Education Minister of independent India, and his birthday is celebrated as National Education Day in India. He passed away on 22 February 1958, leaving behind a legacy of education and reform.
