Great, wide, beautiful, wonderful World,
Poet duniya ki tareef kar raha hai. Woh kehta hai ke duniya bohat bari, khoobsurat aur hairat angez / adbhut (wonderful) hai. Poet ko duniya dekh kar pyar aur khushi mehsoos hoti hai.
With the wonderful water round you curled,
Poet kehta hai ke pani duniya ke aas-pas is tarah lipta hua hai jaise koi khoobsurat chadar ya ribbon ho.
And the wonderful grass upon your breast-
Poet kehta hai ke sabz ghaas duniya ke jism par lagi hui hai aur duniya ko khoobsurat bana rahi hai.
World, you are beautifully dressed
Poet duniya ko ek khoobsurat kapde pehne hui shakhsiyat / vyaktitva (personality) ki tarah dekhta hai. Pani aur ghaas uska kapde hain.
Stanza 2
The wonderful air is over me,
Poet kehta hai ke uske upar thandi aur khoobsurat hawa chal rahi hai jo usay acha mehsoos karwa rahi hai.
And the wonderful wind is shaking the tree,
Poet kehta hai ke hawa darakhton / pedon (tress) ko hila rahi hai aur nature zinda lag raha hai.
It walks on the water, and whirls the mills,
Poet kehta hai ke hawa pani par chalti hui lagti hai aur hawa chakkiyon ko ghumati hai.
And talks to itself on the tops of the hills.
Poet hawa ki awaaz ko aise imagine karta hai jaise hawa paharon par khud se baatein kar rahi ho.
Stanza 3
You friendly Earth! how far do you go,
Poet duniya ko ek dost ki tarah bula raha hai aur hairan hai ke duniya kitni door tak phaili hui hai.
With the wheat-fields that nod and the rivers that flow,
Poet kheton aur behte hue daryon ki khoobsurti bayan kar raha hai. Gandum / gehun (wheat) hawa mein jhukti hui lagti hai.
With cities and gardens, and cliffs, and isles,
Duniya mein shehar, gardens, pahaadi chattanen aur islands hain jo duniya ko sundar aur alag banate hain.
And people upon you for thousands of miles?
Poet kehta hai ke duniya bohat bari hai aur hazaron miles tak log is par rehte hain.
Stanza 4
Ah, you are so great, and I am so small,
Poet kehta hai ke duniya bohat bari hai aur woh khud bohat chhota hai.
I tremble to think of you, World, at all;
Duniya ki itni badi aur powerful shakti ko soch kar poet dar aur hairani mehsoos karta hai.
And yet, when I said my prayers to-day,
Poet kehta hai ke aaj dua karte waqt usay ek gehri baat samajh aayi.
A whisper inside me seemed to say,
Poet ko apne andar se halki si awaaz mehsoos hui jo usay kuch keh rahi thi.
Stanza 5
“You are more than the Earth,
though you are such a dot:
Andar ki awaaz kehti hai ke insaan chhota hone ke bawajood bhi ek khaas tareeqe se duniya se zyada important hai.
You can love and think,
and the Earth cannot!”
Insaan soch sakta hai aur mohabbat kar sakta hai, jabke duniya khud yeh kaam nahi kar sakti. Isi wajah se insaan khaas hai.

C. Think and answer.
1. Why do you think the speaker finds the Earth 'friendly'?
The speaker finds the Earth ‘friendly’ because it provides beautiful things like grass, rivers, gardens, wheat-fields, and water. The Earth supports people and nature, so it feels caring and welcoming.
2. Do you think that our ability to 'love' and 'think' makes us more important than the Earth? Say why you think so.
No, I do not think humans are more important than the Earth. Although humans can love and think, we depend completely on the Earth for food, water, air, and life. Both humans and the Earth are valuable and need each other.
